By learning mathematics, students develop their reasoning abilities and problem-solving skills. Understanding numbers and shapes, formulas and processes, and chances and algorithms sets the foundation for students to succeed in other sciences and to better understand the world around them. The department's implementation of equitable practices helps ensure students’ needs as learners are met.
