This interdisciplinary course surveys major works, figures, styles, concepts, and techniques in world culture from prehistory to 1600. Students study examples of creative genius in such fields as art, literature, folklore, music, philosophy, religion, history, theater, and architecture to better understand the cultures of multiple peoples and ways that the past and its arts are relevant to themselves and contemporary life.
