This course emphasizes a Chicano/a, Latino/a perspective as it examines Mexican American history through the Mexican- American War and the late nineteenth century. It focuses on major political, social, economic, and cultural factors and explores the roles played by the diverse peoples and cultures who shared in the development of US history. The course emphasizes the contributions of ancient Indians and civilizations and the influences of Spanish institutions and cultures.
