Welcome to a new academic year at MiraCosta College. Whether this is your first semester or you are a returning student, you’ll find that MiraCosta College will prepare you for success.

I joined MiraCosta College as its superintendent/president in January 2015. I was drawn to MiraCosta because I want to be a part of a community that is so obviously dedicated to education. At MiraCosta, that dedication is evident through the efforts of our faculty and staff, who strive to make all students feel welcome and engaged. Meanwhile, the college’s exemplary academic and career-training programs help students transfer to a four-year university or prepare for a career. And, our Student Services programs provide support in a number of areas, including financial aid, counseling, health services and more. Even our students themselves help make MiraCosta College special through their vibrant and active student clubs and leadership programs, which nurture our students’ creativity, expand their learning outside the classroom, and allow them to meet people from around the world. All-in-all, MiraCosta College is the place to be if you want to experience excellence.

MiraCosta College is beginning its 82nd year of offering post-secondary educational opportunities. The college has come a long way since its first class of 122 students met on the campus of Oceanside-Carlsbad High School in 1934. Today, 15,000 credit students take classes at the Oceanside or San Elijo campuses, the Community Learning Center or online.

As MiraCosta College grows, we will continue to meet the needs of our students and our community. If you see me around campus, I hope you’ll stop and say ‘hi’ and express the ways MiraCosta College can continue to serve you.
