MiraCosta College Mission Modification

On March 16, 2015, the California Community Colleges Board of Governors approved MiraCosta College’s proposal to offer a bachelor’s degree in biomanufacturing as one of California’s 12 pilot baccalaureate programs. On September 9, 2015, the MiraCosta Community College District Board of Trustees approved a modification to the college mission statement for the express purpose of making it more inclusive of the new degree. Thus, “associate degrees” has been replaced by “undergraduate degrees” in the college mission:

The MiraCosta Community College District mission is to provide superior educational opportunities and student-support services to a diverse population of learners with a focus on their success. MiraCosta offers undergraduate degrees, university-transfer courses, career-and-technical education, certificate programs, basic-skills education, and lifelong-learning opportunities that strengthen the economic, cultural, social, and educational well-being of the communities it serves.
